Description

Magnolia fig tree

Fig ‘Magnolia’ is a great performer in the Southeast. It has become very popular in Texas in the dooryard fruit market. This fig has brown skin with an amber colored pulp. ‘Magnolia’ has an open eye which can cause the fruit to sour quickly, so it is important to pick it just before it is ripe. This is an ideal fig for canning. ‘Magnolia’ will produce figs on current and last years growth.

Magnolia is one of the largest figs available on the market. The asymmetric fruit has a bronze skin and an amber flesh. The fruit gets ripe from mid-July through August. It is best to pick fruit as early as possible because of the open ostiole or it would split and turn sour easily.
