Kiowa Blackberry Plant, 3 inch pot Thorny, Upright, Low chill. Kiowa Blackberry starter plant. This blackberry variety has a very large fruit size, erect canes, late ripening, and a long harvest period. The most distinctive features of the variety are its very large fruit size, late ripening, erect canes, long fruiting season, and ability to maintain large fruit size throughout the season. Official Name: Rubus ‘Kiowa’

Kiowa Blackberry Plants are moderately vigorous and prolific. Both primocanes and floricanes are moderately erect in growth habit. Kiowa plants are moderately thorny. Plants and fruit are moderately tolerant to anthracnose , and orange rust. Average ripening date is June 12 in central Arkansas. The harvest period is long, with ripening over a 6 week period. Yields are consistent from year to year. The fruit is blocky-oblong in shape, bright glossy black in color and very large in size (10-13 g). The fruit averages 30% larger than other varieties, and fruit size does not decrease as the harvest season progresses. Kiowa fruit is moderately firm at maturity. Storage ability of fresh fruit of the Kiowa variety is superior to other varieties.

Starter plants vary in size between different plant families. These rooted starter plants will arrive ready to be transplanted in to your final container. If they are to be used in a landscape application, you will need to establish them in a 4 inch pot before planting outside. These plugs will be available after March 17, 2022. Plugs are sold without a pot so they will need planted right away.
