Starting a Garden Homestead Business

Name your Homestead, Farm or Business

This is something you may have in mind. If not try to think up something unusual to name it, with a nice ring. If you name your business “The Cha-Ching Farm” people will remember it more than ” The Smiths Family Garden”.

There are other things to consider like, What is your purpose going to be?; farm, garden, orchard, landscaping?. When I named my business I did not know for sure which angle I was going to take but I knew I would be selling or growing plants eventually.

When you have a business name in mind you will have to check with your state to secure your business name. You can do a search to see if it already exists. Here in Florida you can get all the information you need here https://dos.myflorida.com/sunbiz/search/. First you will have to see if the business name exists and if it does you will have to choose another. If you are using a fictitious name ( a name other than you own ), you will have to pay to secure that name. It cost me $80. My business is based on my own name but I seen other similar situations such as Sherris Florist, etc… and wanted to secure the name just in case.

If you do not live in Florida I suggest you do a name search on your states website.
